Franco Rescues Figos� Night

The show attracted an impressive crowd.
However, what was expected to be Figos’ big night nearly turned into disaster, as other artists on the line-up did not show up.
The line-up included Vee wa Mampeezy, Franco, Ditiro Leero, Charmagal, and Slizer. But Charmagal, Slizer and Ditiro Leero did not show up, while Vee, who was expected to launch his prodigy came very late at around 3am, much to the disappointment of fans who had braved the windy night to attend the show. The show, which was scheduled to start at 2pm, started off very late and gained momentum slowly at 9pm. At the time, dissenting voices of frustrated fans could be heard around as revellers wondered when the show would begin.
Franco who provided the venue and sound, had to send his band, Afro Musica on stage to keep revellers busy while awaiting the arrival of booked artists.
His band performed for an hour, whilst MCs kept announcing that other big name artists would soon get on stage to perform.
Other artists who were not in the line such as Mingo and Franco’s ‘kids’, the Animals, had to perform to warm up the stage for Figos.
Franco’s performance lasted almost four hours as his fans kept asking for more. He got on stage just before midnight and sampled various songs from his past albums as well as from his new album titled Eya le nna Babilone. Franco and his energetic band also sampled songs such as Taku-Taku, originally sang by Vee Mampeezy and Charmagal’s latest hit Ke ya Mmokolodi. He got off stage around 3am, paving way for Vee who had just arrived.
Despite the disappointments of non-appearance by the other artists, the performance of those who were present did not disappoint. Vee Mampeezy, Mingo Touch, Franco and Figos all gave scintillating performances that left fans asking for more. Franco said he is the one who launched Vee’s music career and is happy that he is the one who launches Figos.
“If I hold you by my hand, and introduce you to the industry, you must know that you are blessed, I did the same thing with Vee in 1997 and look where he is right now,” Franco said.
On the sidelines, Figos who is signed under his Black Money Makers record label said more would be done to hype the album. He admitted that the launch was planned very late.
