The Pilane team still has to account for what happened at Matshekge Hill Secondary School ill-fated congress.

In the verdict read by the UDC leader, Duma Boko on Tuesday, the coalition partners found that the environment leading up to and including that which prevailed at Matshekge was not conducive to the running of a free and fair congress.

“The fact that the venue which was Matshekge was not conducive for the running of the congress is a serious matter to UDC. Pilane team will have to explain why they could not provide for conducive environment. Again the issue of Pilane leadership is questionable. The UDC has more questions than answers unlike what many may think,” a source within the Umbrella said.

UDC spokesperson Moeti Mohwasa, refused to be drawn into the issue, saying he could not comment on the issue that had not been discussed.

The UDC constitution gives power to the national congress or the National Executive Committee (NEC) to suspend or expel a group member if it believes that one acting against the interests of the umbrella.

Among other things, the group member may be expelled for failing to attend more than two consecutive meetings without apology acceptable to the NEC and failure to pay its group membership fees.

UDC brings together all the opposition parties and recognises their autonomy and self-determination.

The recently appointed BMD spokesperson Rasina Rasina told Mmegi that the BMD national executive meets on Monday to deliberate and determine What has been put before them as “we had already communicated and thus when we can only then be in a position to answer matter regarding the BMD”.
