Dlathu will be hosting an event dubbed Master Class With Sindi Dlathu at the University of Botswana (UB) Business Faculty on Saturday. The event aims to upraise and enhance the theatre practice and television industry in Botswana.

The project coordinator from DM Creative Brands Thapelo Borakilwe told Showbiz in an interview that the Master Class is set to raise awareness on the vast knowledge that exists in television, film and theatre careers. He added that it would focus on different disciplines of performance from preparation, script development to packaging one as a reputable performer.

“The Master Class with Dlathu is going to be a platform that will sensitise performers and all interested stakeholders on the systematic governing principles of performing arts and building a sustainable career. We need to export world class talent from Botswana and this objective can be achieved through international benchmarking opportunities like these ones,” he said.

Borakilwe explained that the Master Class With Sindi Dlathu would touch on stage performance preparations, vocal training, perseverance and strategic planning in show business. He said the class was ideal for performers or interested parties with little or no experience at all.

He added that during the event Dlathu would provide individual attention to all attendees to achieve their goals. Borakilwe explained that the Master Class would finish with a question and answer session.

The objectives of the event are to provide space for those who share their love of performance and showcase to attendees an up-close experience with a television star, and strengthen relations between South Africa and Botswana creative industries.

Borakilwe added that his collaboration with Dlathu’s management, Seven Colors Communication from South Africa came after the company saw DM Creative Events’ good job in promoting artists. He said the Seven Colors Communication then proposed that the two creative arts entities collaborate in bringing Dlathu to the country and that is when Master Class With Sindi Dlathu was born.

He said three winners would have a chance to dine with Dlathu at Lorraine’s Ntlo Maison while the other lucky participant will win a spa voucher and will share a quality time with Dlathu at the spa.

Dlathu’s theatre productions include Madiepetsana and FNB Vita Award in 2003 for Best Actress in The Suit and also performed locally at the Civic Theatre with an international run at an Amsterdam festival.

Her television credits include Muvhango, Khululeka, Justice for All and a six-season run on the SABC1 AIDS drama series Soul City.

Tickets are sold P350 per person and there is a special discount of P250 for all students with a valid identification card. Each ticket includes free meal, question and answers with Dlathu, social media tagging and goody bag.

VIP tickets are said to be limited and not for sale. The event will start at 11am till 3pm.
