The charge stems from an incident last November in which then Rasesa councillor, Seasebeng Monyake, was killed.

Sejoe appeared for mention at Mochudi Magistrate Court yesterday, but the matter could not proceed as the investigating officer advised that while the case has been submitted to the DPP, a prosecutor has not been allocated the case yet.

The matter will thus return on January 16, while Sejoe remains out of custody. Officers close to the matter told Mmegi that assessment of the evidence on the docket had been completed.

The former CEO will be presented with a summary of the evidence at his next appearance in court in January, formally kick-starting the case. The case has dragged on for months, only being registered in court early last month, something which Dikgonnye-Kgomodiatshaba ward councillor, Reginah Rakgati, expressed displeasure about in a previous interview with Mmegi.

Rakgati was travelling with Monyake when the accident occurred.

At the time of the incident, Mochudi Police Station acting commander, Wazha Zambezi told Mmegi that the accident involved a Range Rover with a single occupant, a Toyota Tazz with two passengers and a Toyota Noah, also carrying two passengers.

He said the accident happened in the evening when the Range Rover lost control and struck the councillors’ vehicle outside Gaborone North, near the Belabela Farms turn-off.

It was later revealed that besides Monyake’s death, three people sustained serious injuries and were hospitalised for some time.
