Ramonyaku hosts a charity festival in Tswapong

Entertainer and former member of Triple-R, Arnold ‘Ramonyaku’ Sekgee is spearheading the event, which is a fusion of a music festival and a soccer tournament. The music festival is scheduled for Tumasera community hall on September 29.  “We will donate at least 30% of the funds to the needy within the community. We have identified five families and they will receive groceries,” Ramonyaku said. The event will feature local artists Swaggerlady, Ramozara and Ramonyaku.

“We want this to be an annual event so we can help people in the community with the funds that we raise. With time we want to help raise funds for the SOS and also build houses for people.” Ramonyaku further said the soccer tournament proceeds would go towards buying school uniforms for four children that they have already identified.

The tournament, dubbed Wafa Wafa, is scheduled to take place the following day after the music festival and will feature teams from Tswapong region. With the music festival-taking place during Independence Day, Ramonyaku said it would also act as activation for the main soccer tournament to be held in December.

“With these events, we are trying to help the community in any possible way that we can. We are concerned with the rate of unemployment within the Tswapong area, so we will talk to the youth and encourage them to focus on DIY projects. We are also looking forward to engaging with the elders in the community so we can help the youth and community together,” he said.
