The Fund, under which each constituency has been allocated P10 million, has sparked disputes across the country between various structures, over the use of the money.

Moswaane told a recent Kgotla meeting in Monarch that there was evidence some authorities at grassroots levels were overpricing community projects in order to improperly benefit from the funds.

Francistown West was allocated about P8 million with Monarch location receiving a share of more than P4 million.

Projects approved in the constituency include a P510,000 customary court shelter (leobo) and a P500,000 two-bedroomed house for Selolwe ward as well as a P285,000 storeroom and P722,500 fencing of playground in Monarch West.

Monarch South will renovate the Monarch Beer Garden at a cost of P730,000 and build an LA II house worth P500,000. The area will also install tower lights at a cost of P390,000.

“The pricing of two of these projects in the constituency indicates that WDCs have overcharged the projects.

“You should not overprice community projects because the funds will be insufficient and this is also unfair to the community you serve,” he said.

Moswaane said there would be strict monitoring and re-evaluation of projects to ensure that funds disbursed are not misused but spent as intended.

“Anyone who violates these community grants will face the law and will be punished accordingly,” he said.
