Speaking to Showbiz in an interview, he said that he was introduced to acting from a young age. “At Primary school, during Commonwealth Day commemorations and the Day of the African Child, we partook in the events either by acting or singing,” he said.

Matontshe said that he landed his first role in a play when he was eight-years-old in a play entitled Mma Spatela. He said the realisation that he was not a good footballer led him to acting. “I have done a lot of stage productions like Therapy by Sengwato Rampha, Requiem by Dr. Fani-Kayode Omoregie and the Island by Athol Fugard,” he said.

The young actor also said that he is spurred on by his love for acting. “I love my craft and therefore no challenges will stop me. It is the vital part of the experience and it teaches,” he said.  He added that there is so much support from people and it has always been the same from the onset.

He said his family motivates him to keep on working hard. Just like any other artist, Matontshe did not raise any exception in desiring to find himself at international level, to be precise; Hollywood. Matontshe said that he strives to hone his skills until he achieves his dream even if it may take many years.

“For now, I am interested in the development of the industry here,” he said. The ambitious actor advised other aspirants to refrain from treating obstacles like barriers.
