No solution: The Botswana Billiards Confederation Pool League was marred by defaulter claims

UB are accusing Matsubutsubu of using players who were not eligible to play in the league that ended in July.

Their bone of contention is that Matsubutsubu used players who were not registered.

The protest has since delayed the awarding of prizes for the teams that took part in the league. It has been two months since the protest was lodged, with the complainants at one point accusing Matsubutsubu of dragging their feet when they were supposed to meet the Confederation over the matter.

BBC spokesperson, Marang Morolong however insists that there is no how they can accuse a club for using defaulters when there is no evidence to refer to when taking judgements.

He said they have asked UB to collect evidence and formally report it to the association.

“We have requested that they present evidence before we deliver the outcome. However, UB has promised to collect the facts,” Morolong said. He said they believe the issue will be sorted out soon since clubs have been waiting too long for their prize money.

Meanwhile, Morolong urged teams across Botswana to affiliate and organise themselves as per the association’s regulations so that they have a formal set-up. “We were invited for the All Africa Blackball championships in Zimbabwe, but we failed to attend because the clubs that we could have chosen from would not be representative of the nation but only Gaborone region,” he said.

He said they would continue to market sport and believe that with the help of Botswana National Sport Commission they can take the game to the people.

“Currently, Simmy Ground Holdings, an events company, has affiliated with us and they have come up with an initiative in the form of a tournament whereby the winner will drive home a Honda Fit car and other prizes. The registration fee is 150,” he added.
