Wizkid broke the news on Twitter a few days ago before the promoters of the event could make formal communication.

“Yes its true we have booked Wizkid to headline the event since he is one of the biggest artists in Africa and world at the moment,” said Bruce Nkgakile who is spearheading the event.

The artist is celebrated worldwide and has collaborated with a number of international artists such as Drake, Future, Major Laser and has produced hits such as Show you the money.

Wizkid will be the headline act at the event that will have a heavy weight line up that has the likes of Oliver Mtukudzi, Freshly Ground, Sjava and Vee Mampeezy to mention but a few.

“Diamond City Concert has been designed in a way that it books big international artists that will attract an audience from local and outside the boarders in a bid to market and sell the city. We can say this is an urban tourism project,” Nkgakile said.

He said all the biggest local acts have been booked to open for Wizkid.

“Since we are selling and marketing the city through this event we are working closely with hotels so they can have good packages for visiting revelers. We want the event to benefit everyone around the city. We are looking forward to be hosting it after every four months,” he said.

Upon the announcement by Wizkid and the event management social media went berserk as they celebrated the coming of Wizkid who has never performed in the country.

Wizkid will be the third Nigerian artist here after Davido and Tekno who are scheduled to perform in the country between November and December at different events. Tickets for the event were scheduled to go on sale this week’s coming Monday.
