This came after BMD National Working Committee early this year resolved to postpone the BMD youth elective congress. There was however a division, which led to members of Jacob Kelebeng’s lobby list winning at a controversial congress held in Ramotswa.

The congress was postponed after the youth league had said it does not have money to run the congress and also that there were not enough delegates to hold it. The then party president Ndaba Gaolathe funded the congress.

“The BMD National Executive Committee has amongst other things resolved that, BMD youth branches who had already held their congresses and elected their delegates should submit such names, accompanied by appropriate records, to the secretariat of the BMD not later than the last day of October 2017.

Those who had already submitted such documentation will be contacted for verification by the secretariat shall a need arise,” a letter from BMD spokesperson, Rasina Rasina reads.

Rasina said the leadership of the BMD has resolved to delegate powers to branch committees to preside over youth branch congresses where such congresses had not been held already so that such congresses are held. He said BMD members are requested that names of delegates accompanied by appropriate records should be submitted to the BMD office not later than the last day of October 2017.

“BMD structures nationwide are reminded that, for purposes of administration, such as preparation of the voters roll, it is of paramount importance to adhere to the set deadline of the last day of October 2017.

Those structures with difficulties in meeting the set deadline are advised to get into contact with the Secretary General, Deputy Secretary General and or the National Organising Secretary at their earliest convenient date so that they maybe promptly assisted.”

The party spokesperson said the party secretariat would continue to handle all other logistical and administrative processes and structures are encouraged to keep in close touch.
