Unsuccessful: Former Fencing president, Mudongo failed to have his matter heard urgently

Mudongo had filed an urgent application at the Lobatse High Court to challenge his three-year suspension by the BNSC.  He was accused of undermining a legitimately elected BAFS committee.  Mudongo wants the court to reverse the decision.

The BNSC countered and said the matter was not urgent and the court obliged. Justice Tebogo Tau granted the application and a new date is yet to be set. Mudongo said the ruling has not dampened his spirit of fighting for what he believes in.

“This does not change anything.  I am still waiting for my day in court. When that day arrives, I am going to fight for fencing. I cannot sit aside and let people ruin a code that we have worked hard to establish,” he said.

Mudongo’s attorney has argued that his client was never afforded an opportunity to make representation before the BNSC or not even to be presented with the evidence against him. He added that there are allegations of fraud levelled against Mudongo.

Meanwhile, Mudongo’s attorney has written a letter to BAFS executive committee instructing them to vacate office.  The letter stated that Mandla Masuku (president), Letlhogonolo Ramosesane, Gosego Nkwe, Sam Chape, Thato Gleeson, Maatla Ephraim, Thuso Nakei and Koketso Masena should leave office after a motion of no confidence was passed on them.

Contacted for comment, Masuku said nothing has changed as his committee is still in office.

“The meeting that was convened and removed us from office was illegal.  We do not recognise clubs that attended that meeting because they are not our members.  Their membership was not yet approved,” Masuku said.

He said it is surprising that Mudongo started to complain after the new committee was in office for just two months. “What did he expect us to have done during that period?  We found that the account had P2 only and where was I supposed to get money? BNSC has not released our grant,” he wondered.
