Setete appointed BFA regions coordinator

His appointment follows the BFA president, Maclean Letshwiti’s promised efforts to ensure that BFA regions become more effective in their role to develop football.
The association has already appointed four technical directors for the four blocks expected to facilitate the growth of football at grassroots level in the regions. Setete starts his duties immediately where he will take care of anything that deals with the structures of the BFA at regional level.
The appointment was confirmed by the BFA spokesperson, Tumo Mpatane who said they found it important to try and align all their structures with the association’s strategy.
He said Setete amongst other things will assist the regional structures in that regard and oversee how they operate. “We needed to have an individual who will deal with that. Remember we advertised the post and did interviews and from those interviews he was seen as the best man for that job” Mpatane said.
Before his appointment, Setete sat in the First Instance Body (FIB) that is responsible for issuing licences for Premier League clubs as is the requirement by FIFA.
His appointment automatically means he relinquishes his position in the committee. He becomes the second member from the committee to leave after Mfolo Mfolo also departed following his appointment as the BFA chief executive officer a fortnight ago. Their departures now leave the BFA national executive committee (NEC) with two important positions to fill at the FIB. Setete has in the past served as the general manager at the Premier League before the position was phased out to pave way for the CEO post.
Meanwhile, Mpatane said the Zebras will be driving to Windhoek, Namibia this morning for a friendly encounter with the Brave Warriors on Saturday. The international friendly match comes at a time when the Zebras had just registered their first victory in 12 months against Ethiopia last Saturday. Jerome Ramatlhakwana scored two goals in the 2-0 win, ending Zebras’ long winless streak.
“It is important that we build on the momentum after the win over Ethiopia, which was our first victory in 365 days. The coach (David Bright) has just taken over and is still trying to improve the team,” Mpatane said. Namibia’s Brave Warriors are currently ranked number 132 in the world while Zebras now sit at number 146.
