Teen brutally murdered in parents house

Social media yesterday was rife with reports that the 15-year-old was found with multiple stab wounds and a knife in her neck. Tatitown acting station commander, assistant superintendent Nkwali Mbereki said the young girl’s older brother found her dead at around 10:00am during the Independence celebrations.

He said the deceased was a student at Chamabona Junior Secondary School and was about to sit for her Form Three final examinations in a few weeks.

“The deceased was brutally killed with a sharp object, which we suspect to be a knife.

“We are not sure if the girl was killed on the eve of the Independence celebrations or earlier in the morning on September 30,” he said.

Mbereki said the deceased’s brother told police he last saw his sister on the eve of Independence Day when they parted their ways to school. The deceased’s brother is in Form Five in Francistown, about 30 kilometres from Mathangwane.

“When the brother returned from school later that day, he found their house locked. The brother searched for the deceased until late at night and decided to sleep at a neighbour’s place.

“On September 30, the brother stated that he had a strange feeling about the disappearance of his sister and decided to inform his father who was not around at the time.

“The brother and neighbours broke the main entrance to the house and found the young girl lying in a pool of blood,” the acting station commander said. Mbereki said police are waiting for results on the rape test and no arrests have been made nor are there any suspects identified. The Tatitown station commander said that the investigation on this matter is still ongoing.
