Internal wars resume in the Judiciary

Details of the reasons why the four judges, Tshepo Motswagole, Gaolapelwe Ketlogetswe, Lot Moroka and Godfrey Nthomiwa, were taking on the might of the judiciary were sketchy at the time of going to press. Justice Phadi Solomon will hear the urgent application, in which attorney Wada Nfila is representing the petitioners. While confirming the case, Nfila would not disclose the reasons for the application.
“I can confirm that there is an upcoming case today, but I am constrained to share details with you since my clients have not authorised me to do that,” Nfila said. Mmegi could not get a comment from the four judges, as their phones were either ringing unanswered or off air.
This is the second time in a short time that judges have instituted legal action against the Chief Justice.
As recent as 2015, four judges were suspended for allegedly receiving housing allowances, which they were not entitled to. They stated that they tried everything within their power to indicate the anomaly to officials at the Administration of Justice, but the payment con tinued on for a long time.
After a lengthy battle, the four judges, Key Dingake, Mercy Garekwe, Reiner Busang and Modiri Letsididi, were reinstated early this year after they apologised to President Ian Khama.
