BUAN Freshers� Ball memorable

The Botswana University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (BUAN) hosted its annual Freshers’ Ball where the institution welcomed new comers to the university life on Saturday. The event was held at the student centre hall.
The event coordinators lived up to their promise as they had beefed up security to ensure the students’ safety. The revellers, who were mainly the students, were treated with endless entertainment from local DJs and artists.
Amongst the artists and DJs that kept the audience off their feet with endless music was the Naomi hit maker Ban T who had gained popularity amongst the youth, A.T.I who has recently released a new song that has gone viral in social media and local radio airwaves, Khiring khiring khorong khorong also treated the audience to a beautiful performance. He sung some of his old songs where he later blessed his fans with his new song.
Dwayne Phoenix, MMP Family, Rockafella and Theoram also outdid themselves on stage where they got positive response from the fans. Local DJs such RB2’s DJ Chabo, Chef Gustos, DJ Izzy of Yarona FM, DJ Oats, DJ Deco, Tha Drum Mechanics (Sbeno) and Benny T of RB2 did not disappoint their fans as they kept them off their feet. The DJs played both old and new tracks keeping the fire burning.
During an interview with Showbiz, one of the event coordinators, Joel Ntshupang said the event’s main objective was to welcome freshmen to the new environment in a form of entertainment so that they could have a sense of belonging and blend easier with their seniors in the university.
He said the initiative also helps more especially the new upcoming artists to gain fame and recognition.
“We decided to make this event a 100% local artists show. The event gives new artists a platform to shine and grow in the local music industry. We prioritised on the safety and security of supporters; we engaged two security companies.”
“The school management increased the number of security men around the event and on campus at large making it the third security company,” he said.
Ntshupang added that they had also decided not to allow bottles into the event.
