Last Saturday, they invaded Mogoditshane and came out with a 2-0 victory over former Premier League giants, Mogoditshane Fighters.

However, head coach, Moseki Thebeemang has said they will not try and put themselves under pressure by aiming high early in the league. He said for now their target is to avoid returning to the lower division after just one season in the First Division.

“Maybe after five games we can be able to tell where we are going. But for now we just want to avoid relegation. If we manage to do that then we will aim for the top eight. From then we can aim for the top four,” Thebeemang told Mmegi Sport after Saturday’s win over Fighters.

He said their aim is to put Extension 16 on the map with their brand of football. Despite the 2-0 win, Thebeemang was worried by the number of missed chances, especially in the second half.

They were all over Fighters, especially in the middle of the second half. After missing several chances, Broadhurst United brought in Thatayaone Ndlovu who wasted no time and forced his way between Fighters defence, warded off the challenge and put the rookies 2-0 up.

“Our problem was that we did not change when we got to the box. I told my boys that when we reached the 18th area, we should reduce the speed,” he said. He said he realised that Fighters defence was now fatigued hence the introduction of Ndlovu to add more power upfront. “It is just unfortunate that I introduced him a bit late. Had I introduced him earlier, we would not have missed those chances,” he added. United sit on position three with four points.

Meanwhile, Prisons XI and Notwane are joint at the top with the same number of points and goals.  Both sides are yet to concede a goal.  Notwane defeated Lesirane 1-0 in their first match, while Prisons XI thrashed Black Rangers 2-0.

On Saturday, Notwane beat Mochudi Rovers 2-0 while Prisons XI overcame Red Sparks 1-0.  Red Sparks and Lesirane are currently still on holiday with no points. They have both lost their first two games and are yet to score a goal.
