However, just like any other pageant, in each category there could only be one queen, which somehow did not settle well with other contestants who cried their eyes out after the queens proved that they were the fairest of them all.
Even though all the girls in both categories were dressed to kill in their smashing outfits, Kathleen Goya who wore a stunning and beautifully designed pink dress stole both the limelight and the pre-teen’s crown. The young girl’s confidence and ability to walk in those tall stilettos won her the crown. Her runner-ups were Laone Tshuba on the second position and Katlego Mfila.
On the teen’s category, Selwana Motsemeng proved that she was the fairest with her gorgeous pink dress. Even though the competition in that category was tough, as all the girls out did themselves, Motsemeng and her princesses stole the judges and audience’s hearts. Sakshi Bhargava scooped the first princess title while Margret Leseane who looked divine in her gold dress highlighted with black floral and lines was crowned the second princess.
Miss Hope (senior) category crown was scooped by Peo Pule when the ever-confident Neo Nkawana, who wore a black dinner dress, got position two. Johanna Bakwena who also lightened up the podium with her confidence grabbed position three.
Both Miss Hope and Miss Hope Teen would be representing the country at the Miss Hope and Miss Hope Teen International beauty pageants in South Africa this year.
However, some contestants were also given medals as a token of appreciation after having won some project done prior to the competition. Creativity award went to Kathleen Goya when Popularity and Most Presentable awards went to Bhargava. Motsemeng went away with photogenic award while Nkawana went home with Public Speaking and Community Service awards. Leseane and Laone Tshuba who also won Initiative award also won the Public Speaking awards.
Hope pageants is a Christian based pageant system for women and children who are passionate about making a significant difference in their communities, touching the lives of others and being a positive role model. It allocates 50% of the finalists’ scores towards interview judging with a focus on their character, values and community projects during their period of being a finalist.
The idea started after Ingrid Burger founded her project, Acting Hope, at the beginning of 2012. Acting Hope is a registered charity, mainly using drama as a therapy in healing broken children and giving hope and confidence to children of communities in South Africa. Acting Hope has been extremely successful in its growth, consisting of child volunteers using their own talents as well to implement various sustainable projects throughout the communities of South Africa.
Categories for Hope Pageants are Miss Pre-Teen Hope (9-13), Miss Teen Hope (14-18), Miss Hope (19-26 single ladies) and Ms. Hope (27-45 single ladies); married ladies ages 19-26 may choose whether to be in the Miss or the Mrs. Category.
