Rape Of Imbiciles Spirals Out Of Control- Police Boss

Apparently, according to Station commander, Superintendent Isaac Mamadi, reports of rape involving such vulnerable members of the community have been coming into the charge office like blood oozing out of a gash.

Now the sleuths in that central district village are biting their fingers over two cases of mentally challenged women who were raped on Wednesday and Thursday last week at Xhosa 1 and Dilaene wards respectively.

“It’s like it has now become a norm that people sexually abuse mentally disturbed women knowing very well that they will simply submit to everything they are ordered to do,” Mamadi cried. Regarding the two incidents, Mamadi confirmed that on Thursday they received a report that a 16-year-old mentally disturbed woman was raped whilst from a relative’s yard to her home around 11pm at Xhosa 1 ward.

According to the police boss, the perpetrator followed the victim and on the way tripped her and dragged her to a nearby bush and raped her.

“The sad part of it is that it is hard for the police to arrest anyone in relation to the matter as the victim says she does not know the person nor can recognise him. It is a pity because the woman is unstable and she couldn’t even explain well what really happened as she also stammers,” Mamadi said.

Another matter according to Mamadi involved another menntally woman aged 18, who was allegedly raped by a 23-year-old man on Wednesday. Mamadi said according to a statement by the victim’s parents, the suspect abducted the mentally disturbed woman from her home at Dilaene Ward and took her to the cattle-post where he raped her for the whole night. He said the parents realised the following day that something was wrong with their child when she refused to eat her meal.

He said an eye-witness came and explained to them what she saw the previous day, that the woman was taken by a certain man who carried her on his back. “That is when they suspected rape, and reported the matter to us and we managed to arrest a 23-year-old man. We nabbed him at the said lands, and medical tests have been conducted by the medical doctors to prove that indeed the young woman was raped,” Mamadi said.

Mamadi decried rape cases saying their numbers increased at an alarming daily rate with victims being mostly youth aged between 16 and 25 years. He said they are investigating another case in which an unknown man raped a 21-year-old woman last weekend at around 11pm whilst she was from the bar at Xhosa 1 Ward.“The victim told the police that she doesn’t know the suspect and cannot identify him as she was drunk when she got raped.

The police are really concerned by rape cases because it is more like fashion these days. People are not even ashamed to come and report that they have been raped by someone who has been buying them beers, but they do not know his name or his residence. “Most of the cases happen at night while people are drinking heavily, and some end up being date raped. We always advise people to refrain from walking alone at night, but if they can’t take our advices, there is nothing that we can do because there is no law in the country which disallows them from going around at night,” he said. rape cases and it is hard for them to arrest culprits, as most victims can’t identify suspects.
