With the victory against Modipane United on Saturday, they have now gone five games unbeaten. They went into the weekend match with a clean sheet together with log leaders, Notwane.

While Notwane conceded for the first time this season in the 3-1 win over Red Sparks, Prisons XI still kept it tight at the back.

They now remain the only side yet to concede a goal in the First Division South League, thanks to their organised defending which was boosted by the arrival of former BDF XI goalkeeper, Ontiretse Gaothobogwe.

However, despite the feat, head coach, Philemon Makhwengwe still believes they have not reached where he wants. “We have not arrived where we want. I will say we have arrived where we want when we start taking chances. We are missing too many chances because my players want to carry the ball into the net.

I told them to play with the goalkeepers. The only goalkeeper that we fear in the league is the Notwane goalkeeper (Michael Pepukani) and our goalkeeper. Without taking anything away from the other goalkeepers, we have to engage them,” Makhwengwe said.

Both Prisons XI and Notwane appear destined for a fierce battle in their quest to gain promotion into the Premier League. Notwane sit at the summit with 13 points from five matches, two more points than Prisons XI in second place.

The 3-1 win over Red Sparks was their fourth this season, having only registered one draw, which was against closest rival in the race, Prisons XI.

Modipane United kept their third position despite the loss to Prisons XI on Saturday. Their early dominance in the first half was neutralised by Prisons XI in the second half after the introduction of speedy winger, Kelelelo Kgosimore.

Rookies, Broadhurst United registered their second win of the season and moved to position four with seven points.

Mogoditshane Fighters have also collected seven points, but stayed at position five with inferior goal difference. Lesirane maintained their poor start to the season having collected just a single point from five games. They remain rooted at the bottom of the log standings.
