Richard said the leader of the UDC, Boko should change his work ethic and leadership style if he wishes to see the party win state power in 2019.

“BNF is a cute organisation at least on paper, but I can’t say with its leadership and administration currently. Boko at times fails to consult his central committee and even to take calls from his MPs.”

“For example, the central committee had tried to intervene on the issue of failure by previous youth league to hand over to the current committee but the president and secretary general Moeti Mohwasa blocked to date,” Richard said yesterday during press briefing where he was announcing his new political home, Alliance for Progressives (AP).

Richard said he knew that with this kind of leadership very soon UDC would crumble and it was not surprising that the conveners, Botswana People’s Party (BPP) and some leaders of Botswana Federation of Public, Private and Parastatal Sector Unions (BOFEPUSU) have raised a red flag.

He said he had cautioned Boko against his attitude of undermining collective leadership.

Adding that they cannot have leaders who desperately want to project themselves as the only voice of reason in what was supposed to be a national project.

The former youth president said there are some youth within BNF who have a tendency of insulting BNF vice president Prince Dibeela on his personal phone questioning him why he gives media interviews.

“Nobody ever reprimand them. Where is leadership in all these? Are we leaderless?” he charged.

However, Mohwasa said handover was done with current youth league committee and Richard is not aware because he has been outside the country.

“I cannot comment on what Richard had said because central committee has been communicating with the current committee. He needs to get his facts right first,” Mohwasa said.
