TAFIC get another chance to play Zim�s Highlanders

The match will be played on October 28 in Francistown. The organisers, Francistown Regional Football Association’s (FRAFA) chairperson, Maokaneng Bontshetse said they have reached an agreement with the two clubs but the locals are yet to confirm participation.
“We have written to Highlanders and their chairman has confirmed they will honour our request to participate in our jubilee match,” Bontshetse said.
“We have also agreed in principle with TAFIC as our number one club in the city, but we are yet to get a final response from them.”
Bontshetse said they have secured a sponsor for the game adding that other logistics such as appearance fees, lodgings and venue are being finalised.
“Of course we have a sponsor, but it is still premature to reveal anything. We are meeting this week to finalise the details of the game.”
“Participants will be compensated for their time, but everything will be revealed when it’s ready for public consumption. We will call a press conference soon.”
TAFIC spokesperson, Warrant Kolola confirmed they have met with the organisers of the jubilee match. He said they will be honoured to play a part in the city’s celebrations.
However, Kolola said they have requested that the organisers furnish them with a written invitation so that they can seek permission from Botswana Premier League (BPL). TAFIC will be involved in a league encounter against fellow rookies Sharps Shooting Stars at the Francistown Sports Complex on the eve of the jubilee celebrations. “First we need to request for permission from the BFA and BPL, hence we will need a written invitation from the organising committee to back our request. If we are given the green light by the mother body, then we can confirm our position.” “In principle we don’t have any reservations with participating in the city’s celebrations. As part of the community of Francistown, we will be happy to play our part in celebrating this milestone with the rest of the city,” Kolola said.
In the recent past, Matjimenyenga had seen a possible meeting with the regional neighbours botched. The duo alongside Mochudi Centre Chiefs and Harare Dynamos were scheduled to meet in a four team Supa Power Cup. The off-season cup was cancelled in the eve of the showpiece after the organiser failed to honour the contract.
