Speaking to Showbiz the event manager, Kabo Komanyane from Crispy 360 Event Company said that he came up with the concept after being inspired by the growth of outdoor events happening in Gaborone.

He said that he realised that Jwaneng lacks fresh entertainment that brings together families and friends in a relaxed and fun-filled environment. “I realised that Jwaneng is a good place for this event because the community is not used to weekend chill vibes therefore we want to introduce this kind of fresh entertainment to them.  The town itself is a business opportunity because the population comprises of workers,” Komanyane noted.

He said the event would be held at Debswana Club Garden to expose attendees to the mood of having fun in a relaxed and picnic-like set up.  Komanyane said the Jwaneng Chillas event will include various activities such as games and music and the event is targeting 400 attendees including children. He said they would provide a kiddies corner with jumping castles, board games and so on.  He was quick to mention that the music will give people a time to have fun and walk around the available stalls at the event.

“We are targeting Jwaneng DJs and upcoming artists to come and cheer the audience up because this is not a music event but a social picnic event,” he said.

The 23-year-old, who is also a corporate events emcee said despite struggling to get sponsors on board, the preparations are going well because he had managed to pay for the venue and produced tickets.  He said tickets are already available at Jwaneng Liquorama therefore interested people around Botswana can visit their Facebook page for more details.

In a way of promoting the event the young entrepreneur said they would be hosting activations at Jwaneng Mall from September 23 until   October 27.

“So far I have T-shirts, which are sold at P150 thus the only thing we are still working on is finalising the line up for the event and hopefully by the end of this month we would have everything in place,” he optimistically said. He added he is looking forward to a successful event and intends to work hard by setting a high standard event.

Komanyane also appealed to different stakeholders to assist with sponsorships and also urged local youth entrepreneurs to apply for stalls at activation events. Tickets for adults are sold at P80 and P50 for children under the age of 12.
