Mmakgosi Live, is an event coined to sensitise people on mental health issues, raising awareness and bringing forth an element of healing through poetry and song. It is an enlightening event that aims to inspire the audience and leave an unforgettable impact in their lives.

The event themed Rooted In Africa is expected to bring the power of healing through poetry, spoken word and live music.  After 18 years of writing, Mmakgosi Ophadile Anita Tau envisions an outpour of empowerment, edutainment and fulfillment for everyone attending this event. The guest of Honour is the Minister of Health and Wellness Dorcus Makgato.

“The theme of the night is, Rooted in Africa,” which entails spoken word poetry, song and a traditional Setswana buffet to bring the theme a little closer to home.  To make it more interactive, the audience is set to honour the theme and come dressed in their German Print or preferred African attire,” Tau told Showbiz. She said the gist of the night is to share true life experiences of Mmakgosi, her inspirational testimony of overcoming bipolar and depression, her healing journey, faith, hope and love through storytelling and poetry.

The show features the likes of Poetess Phopho, (Nametso Dorothy Phonchi), Tshegofatso Kwadiba, Mya Serame and promises to fuse film, fine art and other forms of art. “The nature of this event is a groundbreaking effort to sensitive Batswana on mental health issues in an artistic and innovative manner,” she explained.
