Satmos, despite their precarious position, are hopeful of returning to the Premiership

Club manager, Tshwaragano Moswela said they are building a youthful team to play in the Premiership in future. “With the team that we are developing, I can assure our supporters and well-wishers that we will be back to where we belong in the near future. The youngsters we have, have proven they can compete and take the team to another level,” he said.

He said the team is determined to make the supporters happy by returning to higher leagues. He said they lost most of their players who sought greener pastures after relegation. He indicated that due to financial constraints, they have decided to utilise youngsters who are still at school. He said the majority of their players are under 23 years old.

He said the club could emulate the feared Uniao Flamengo Santos youthful side, which had the likes of Boitshoko Zikhale, Godfrey and Mogakolodi Ngele and the late Gofaone Tiro. Moswela said lack of finances to get experienced players led to their relegation. He said other teams are at an advantage as they have money. He, however said people should not write them off yet. He said the only thing that can hinder them from reaching their target is limited resources. The team did not have pre-season preparations due to lack of funds, but Moswela is satisfied with the shape of the team.

Satmos coach, Kgosietsile Jacob said the advantage of working with young players is that they take instructions quickly. He revealed that the challenges they face are that youngsters are mostly under the guidance and care of their parents and sometimes they miss training thus affecting their training schedule.

He added that another problem is that at times they are engaged in school assignments since some of them are in their final year. However, Jacob was optimistic that despite the challenges, they are prepared to compete and take the team back to Debswana First Division and eventually, the elite league. Satmos’ first game in Division One is against cross town rivals, No Mathata this weekend.
