Lesotho educational trip called off

The students and ministry officials were due to have left for Lesotho yesterday for a Maths, Science and Technology Fair.

“The students have not departed to Lesotho because the Fair has been called off by the organising committee in view of the latest developments in Lesotho,” said the ministry’s spokesperson, Gorata Mokaloba. 

The decision was made by the committee, which is based in the host country.

A send-off ceremony was lined up for the group that was to participate at the Maths, Science and Technology Fair, which was to start today and end on Saturday. The batch had qualified for the competition after they obtained first positions in their respective categories during the National Maths and Science Fair.

The fair, was part of efforts to stimulate interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) subject as performance in science related subjects continue to dwindle.
