Miss Hope finalist advocates for good cause

Being a finalist in the pageant meant that the finalists come up with projects as a way of giving to the community, which will also determine chances for a candidate winning the crown. Speaking to Showbiz after holding a successful blood donation campaign, Beregani said she chose the campaign after realising that road accidents are rapidly increasing and most of the victims die as a result of insufficient blood supply.

 “I chose this campaign as a way of giving back to the community because I realised that there is still a shortage of blood supply in our country‘s blood bank hence people die daily due to car accidents.

 In addition lack of blood supply also triggers the death statisticts,” she said. Beregani also said that after visiting the blood bank in Palapye together with her mother Boitshepo Beregani, she realised that the situation is even worse.

Beregani said they were told that people in Palapye do not donate at all and are still behind because of the lack of knowledge.

She said they then took it upon themselves to start the campaign and educate residents more on blood donation so that the latter could understand the significance of donating blood.

“We also engaged business people and several artists here including Francistown-based DJ Colestraw who championed the campaign to mobilise more people on the initiative.  It was therefore a very successful campaign as more people came on board to donate blood and it is my hope that it does not stop with my campaign,” she said.

Beregani’s mother, who is also her manager, said that the little girl came up with the idea on her own and it was surprising for a girl of that young age to come up with such an amazing initiative to save lives.

Beregani’s mother said with the commitment she saw in her daughter during the campaign she is now convinced that she is raising a leader.  She said she would try by all means to pave her modelling path.

“I have always known that she was into fashion and modelling because every time she will dress up and fascinate us with her choice of dressing.  Most of the time she will watch fashion channels instead of cartoons like normal children of her age do,” she added.

She said that upon recognising her daughter’s enthusiasm for fashion she then auditioned her at Miss Hope pageant Botswana to showcase her talent.

  “Although it was her first time she impressed the judges. If it happens that she does not win the pageant we will continue to support her modelling talent,” she highlighted.

“I also urge other parents to appreciate their children’s interests more especially their hidden talents and pave their way for them. 

When children do what they are passionate about they always excel.

Although my daughter chose a very luxurious and challenging path I will try my utmost best to support her where I can and as a parent I believe we should cultivate and expose those hidden talents,” she said.
