The deal will see the BTC continue as the elite league sponsors for the next three years, with an increase of nine million from the last sponsorship.

The two parties have been in a relationship for the last nine years. The company first pumped in P15 million in the first three years.

They renewed the deal for the next three years, that time injecting in P24 million before the last deal whose value totalled P30 million.

Announcing the deal yesterday, BTC general marketing manager, Pilot Jane said the league will receive P13 million for each of the three seasons from the deal. “This is significant rise of 30% from the previous deal.

“The sponsorship will also see the creation of the Charity spectacular,” Jane said yesterday. He said the signing ceremony will be done on September 23 at the Francistown Sports Complex where defending champions, Township Rollers will take on Premier League returnees, TAFIC.

The game will officially kick-start the 2017/2018 season. The league was initially scheduled to start on August 18, but was moved to allow further logistics to be completed according to BTC officials. BPL board chairperson, Rapula Okaile said they are excited to have reached another deal with BTC. He said they would do everything to ensure that the league product becomes an exciting product.

He said he was happy that in the deal, clubs would receive their grants, which will enable them to run properly without tarnishing the league. He, however did not reveal any more details, which he said will be done at the signing ceremony in a fortnight.
