First Division North secretary general, Rapula Gaotlhobogwe said they postponed the competiton on the advice of the BFA Compliance office as there is a pending matter involving Chobe United that is before the BFA Appeals Committee.

“We have received communication from the Compliance office that there is a Chobe United appeal before the Appeals Committee, therefore we had to delay the league until the matter is resolved,” Gaotlhobogwe said yesterday.

“The (compliance) office has said the matter will be heard as urgent matter as early as next week, but until we get the judgement of the matter then we will work on the way forward. Until then our league has been suspended indefinitely.” Chobe is appealing a BFA Disciplinary Committee judgement last week. The Kasane club said the DC dismissed their case where they were challenging their relegation, without affording them a proper hearing.

Chobe are complaining that they were pushed out of the league through a play off against Great North Tigers in Nata while in fact Morupule Wanderers were the side that should have been involved in the relegation decider.

Chobe are of the view that Morupule had six soft points from two games that failed to finish. One game involved Morupule and Sua Flamingoes that was called off before time due to reported violence.

The other game involved Chobe and Morupule that was called off around the 66th minute due to shortage of players after Chobe were given three red cards and had an injury.

“We deserve to be listened to. Our concern is supported by the play rules and regulations,” Chobe chairperson, Bogosing Bogosing said.

“If the game is abandoned there are two things; its either a replay is ordered or the other team is given soft points and that is the six points we are talking about.”
