Musical duo The Nex'Tones are set to debut at the Naked Soul sessions

The Nex’Tones a band that comprises of Mandisa ‘Josiah King’ Mabuthoe and Ngoni ‘Upmost aka myBruthazkeepa’ Tapiwa will be staging their third performance of the year.

“We get better with every performance, our performance at Naked Soul Sessions will be better than our previous ones, it’s always changing.

It will be a strip down version of music that we have previously performed,” Josiah King said.

The Hip Hop musical ensemble has a reputation of staging soulful life performances. Josiah King stated that despite being a Hip Hop oriented duo their musical pieces carry other influences such as reggae, soul and poetry.

Last year, Josiah King had said that they requested to perform at the event, but it was fully booked, which is no wonder it took them a long time to perform at Naked Soul sessions.

Within 80 minutes of performing with a live band they will perform their own tracks such as Monday morning blues and various cover tracks.

The Nex’Tones have managed to standout due to the combination prowess they have.  Josiah King carries some poetic and soulful abilities whereas Upmost aka myBruthazkeepa is a lyrically talented rapper with some musical expertise.

The duo joins the likes of Leshie Lovesong, Favi, Taola, Shanti Lo, Mpho Sebina and Cibil Nyte, who have previously performed at the Naked Soul Sessions. Josiah King also highlighted that they have more performances lined up in the upcoming musical and arts festivals, which are yet to be confirmed.  They have previously performed at Jam for Brunch and Jazz XChange.
