This past Thursday the awards organising team announced a number of developments such as the venue, voting criteria, judges and cash prizes to be won. The event is scheduled to take place on October 28 at Masa Square Hotel.

The biggest development that has taken place so far is that the best newsreader will be awarded with a trophy and P15,000 cash prize, which will be sponsored by Stanbic Bank Botswana.

“At the moment we cannot publicly disclose the cash prize in other categories because we are still in talks with potential sponsors for the different categories for the awards but once it is all sorted, we will announce it,” said The VIB Good Radio Awards founder, Jazzelle Kebakile.

Another development that Jazzelle announced was that the award ceremony has secured judges who will be accessing the radio personalities in different categories. The confirmed judges are former Gabz FM host Simba Mudereri, radio legend DJ Sid and veteran One Rabantheng.

“Since we have a mobile voting system taking place at the moment, judges will contribute 40% of the vetting and judgement. The mobile voting lines will be closing a day before the awards ceremony.”

The mobile voting criteria of the awards is on their Facebook page. Each radio personality has a voting code that the voters use to vote.

The awards ceremony has categories such as Best Presenter, Best Show, Best News Reader, Best Sports reader and Best Radio Station. Almost all radio personalities and shows have a voting code that one can use to vote.

With the event taking place on October 28 where there will be a number of big events, The VIB Good Radio Awards team has stated that it will not disturb their programme as they support some of the events that will be taking place stating that they are actually inviting some of the international performing acts to the event so they meet local presenters that play their music.

The event will have a number of local artists like Vee Mampeezy, Veezo View, Ban T and Urban Empire to mention but a few. The hosts will be Tshepi Ess and Losika Seboni.
