This will be his first solo performance at the monthly event after having performed with his band The Contrabanditz and as the event photographer.

“I will be performing as a solo artist at Jazz X Change for the first time, I am planning to give it my all.

I will stage a fusion of RnB and jazz complemented by other genres such as reggae, ragga and samba,” Tafnaz said.

Unlike a number of artists that have performed covers, Tafnaz will only perform his songs from his recently released album, The Situationship and other singles.

“I am coming up with a different style it will strictly be my music on stage.  I will obviously have a live band, which mostly comprises of The Contrabanditz and additional instrumentalists.”

With his debut performance as a solo artist he stated that he is on a quest to help revive local RnB music in the country as there has always been a notion that the genre does not exist in the country.

“I want people to fall in love with RnB music again,” he said.

He stated that he does not see Jazz X Change as just an ordinary music event, but as an artist incubation whereby artists get to be mentored by the event founder, Abdul Rahman El-kindiy, who drill artists on the different components of being a professional artist.

Tafnaz’s debut album has a number of soulful tracks such as Cry.

The project features artists such as Mandisa Mabutho and upcoming artist Collin Mlalazi.

As a vocalist and guitarist he has been working with a number of live performance artists and ensembles such as Abigail Isa, Mpho Sebina, Mandisa Mabutho, Debbie with a T and Cedric Ncube.
