GIMC Music Festival Continues To Attract Large Crowd

Multitudes of young and hyper patrons had already thronged the event in the evening. The music festival has shown significant growth over the years. By late evening, hundreds had already begun to pack up the National Stadium and local deejays started to fire-up the place.
However, around 1900hrs, there was a stampede at the gates as many revellers who flocked to the event fought and pushed to enter the stadium. Even though the organisers had tried to beef up security, it seemed that it was not enough as the population of revellers, who flocked to the event outnumbered the security guards.
Their efforts to control the crowds run futile as some people jumped on the walls to stay wherever they preferred.
This year the event lineup was beefed up with a number of talented and most celebrated local and international artists who kept the audience dancing the whole night. The festival brought international artists like Mafikizolo, Cassper Nyovest, Prince Kaybee, Riky Rick, DJ Master P and Mozak, who gave the audience an experience of a lifetime.
Robbie Rob and Brando kept the audience entertained with the latest and popular Nigerian hits such as Davido’s If, Fall and others, which seemed to have gained popularity in the country.
Team Distance also kept revellers off their feet with their beautiful rhythms.
Amongst local acts who seemed to have gained a lot of revellers’ attention was Ban T with his song Naomi that has blown the local music industry away. Batho Bame singer ATI also treated the audience to an energetic performance. His new song “khiring khiring khorong khorong” was amongst the night’s favourites on many revellers’ playlists.
Hip-hop queen, Sasa Klaas also treated the audience to a magnificent performance. When Mafikizolo got on stage, the national stadium got all fired up. Mafikizolo treated the audience to some of their old songs, which proved to still be favourite numbers for their fans. The crew sang songs such as Mafikizolo, O Tswa Kae, Nisixoshelani, Ndihamba Nawe that took the audience back in the days.
They ended their 40-minute show with their new song that has been amongst many people’s favourites, Love Portion.
The South African singing duo, Theo Kgosinkwe and Nhlanhla Nciza, thanked Batswana for having supported them throughout their 20 years in the music industry. The pair said they could not have succeeded without their fans’ support and urged the audience to continue supporting both the local and international music talents.
As usual, Vee Mampeezy proved to be one of the highly celebrated local artists. He gave the audience the best performance. His songs, Eita, Letlhale, Re Iketlile, and No Suffer, got the audience off their feet. South African rapper Riky Rick treated the audience to some of popular songs like Sidlukotini, Boss Zonke, Love We Had to mention a few. Other artists who were amongst the audience’s favourite include Cassper Nyovest and Skin Flint.
