Raditladi said the new committee’s approach would be to make players the focal point, which is why she is determined to improve the local league.

She also wants to focus on development side. Raditladi said most of the committee members have been involved in netball before, which is an advantage.

“We are going to see how best we can structure the development side by creating relationships with BOPSSA, BISA and BOTTESSA as we have realised that we lose more talent after that stage. It is time to see how we can link up with these structures to ensure that we help them to develop the sport,” she said.

She added that they are determined to adequately prepare the senior national team for the 2018 Commonwealth Games qualifiers games. The qualifiers are for the 2020 Commonwealth Games.

Raditladi further said they would focus on technical development of netball through training umpires and coaches.

“In order to improve netball and continuation of what the association has been doing, we anticipate to benchmark ideas and structures from other countries like South Africa, which has the biggest netball league. We want to see which competitions they have and what did they do to get more money from their sponsors,” Raditladi said.

She said they would continue to negotiate with Spar Botswana, which has been a key partner for netball.

“We are going to negotiate further with them to extend the sponsorship and we hope that our structures and plans would help us to convince them,” she said.

Raditladi said the search for other sponsors is on going.

“The one thing I am happy about is my team, which comprises effective and knowledgeable individuals, who have been in sport. Former president, Tebogo Lebotse-Sebego has pledged her support to take us through for a year as an ex-officio member.”
