Joyous Celebrations� star to grace gospel extravaganza

The event, which started in 2014, is anticipated to attract multitudes of believers and non-believers from across the country.  Event organiser, Kgomotso Magunga said it started as a platform where raw talent was showcased, nurtured and groomed.  She revealed that the event is a major annual gospel experience in the town.

“We invite both local and international artists so as to give them the opportunity to exchange knowledge and learn from each other. In the past years we have seen this event grow, but not to our expectations yet.  We have had people coming from as far as Gaborone, Palapye, Francistown, Selebi Phikwe and surrounding villages to attend,” she said.

Magunga, who is also among the performing artists, said they are currently hosting the event in the town because it lacks gospel entertainment that brings together families, churches and the community at large to an environment where they can hear the word of God through music, singing along, relaxation and fun.  She noted that they believe that through the event they will enhance the development and the economic growth of the town, as some attendees will get services from local public transport such as taxis, use accommodation and even the shops.

She said this year they have involved the town leadership and the response they got is positive towards their initiative.  Magunga said they are also optimistic that next year they will go an extra mile to give back to the community through helping those who are in need as it is part of their objectives.  She was confident that the event will be successful though she struggled to get sponsors on board.

“I am looking forward to a successful event and I intend to work hard by setting up a high standard event despite struggling to get sponsorship.  I appeal to different stakeholders to assist us in any way possible as this can also be beneficial to their businesses.  The preparations are going well, we have managed to print posters, fliers, tickets and we are also pushing the marketing aspect through social media platforms,” she said.

She added though the event is on its fourth year there are still challenges she faces such as financial constraints as they run the event from their pockets and ticket sales.  She appealed for support stating that the help they get from the public is not enough.

She advised the public to get tickets early at any Spar outlet countrywide to avoid last minute congestion.  She disclosed that they anticipate over 400 people to attend the event and encouraged the public to be well on time so that they do not cut the performing time of the artists. Artists that are expected to perform at the event include Vusi, Debbie Keletso, Joy Divine and Abigail Mwembe from Zimbabwe among others.
