ECCO public relations officer, Sylvester Patella said the coach’s mandate is to take the team back to the top flight.

“We are going back to where we belong, luckily we did not lose any of our players during the transfer period and they have been with the team for the past two seasons. They know what we expect from them and they have all promised to take the club back to the premiership,” he said.Patella said they are in talks with a potential sponsor, although he declined to divulge the name of the company.

As one of their resolutions taken at the club’s annual general meeting (AGM) in June this year, the new committee employed a task force to engage the supporters in a move aimed at changing the club’s name, logo, colours and slogan ahead of the new season.

He said the club will be without experienced player, Malepa Bolelang, for the coming season. ECCO managed to retain influential player, Onkemetse Powe who was previously linked with a move to Mochudi Centre Chiefs before the closure of the transfer window.

Just like TAFIC’s Operation Gwilila, Mamoja Diskie have formed their own, Operation Success, which Patella said is a sign they are aiming for success in every game they play. ECCO are known for their blockbuster season in 2006-2007 when they became the first team from the north to win the league title.

ECCO had a practice match against Somerset Young Fighters where they won 3-0 last weekend.

Their coach, Molapi was impressed with the performance although he said the team is not yet where he wants it to be. “The match was part of our preparations ahead of the new season as such we were trying combinations since we have new players in the team.

It gave us an opportunity to evaluate our progress and where we are heading as a team,” he said. Mamoja Diskie are expected to play another tournament featuring Orapa United, TAFIC, ECCO and Nico United at the Francistown Old Stadium this weekend.
