We are raising monsters

This rowdy behaviour has been going on for years and it seems we are losing this battle against this gangsterism. The emergence of gangsterism culture in our children is a clear testimony that we are failing to raise the young ones at home. The issue can be traced back to the family level. It is clear that we have so many dysfunctional families.

Parents have abdicated their responsibilities to raise future responsible citizens. The next generation will be made up of drunkards, drug addicts, prostitutes and criminals. And these parents are also afraid of their own children. Because of these irresponsible parents, now these monsters that were not instilled with good conduct in their upbringing are a menace to the society.

These monsters are making our citizens’ lives a living hell. They harass and steal from hard working citizens almost on a daily basis. At schools they steal and beat up teachers and fellow students. They steal in order to finance their deplorable habit of smoking dagga and drinking alcohol. They do not care about studying very hard so that tomorrow they can reap the rewards of hard work. No! They do not go to school to learn but to misbehave.

After school they terrorise people coming from work. They steal by force from passengers in public transport.

This is a new trend especially in the City of Gaborone. It seems the police are doing nothing about this situation and the culprits are increasing on a daily basis to take advantage of the indifference from members of the Botswana Police Service.

Some of these coldblooded brutes break into vehicles waiting at traffic lights. It is increasingly becoming dangerous for motorists to stop at red lights. Because of this dangerous situation, some motorists have resorted to not obeying traffic lights and they pay heavily for that. It is either they pay traffic fines or endanger the lives of other road users.

Walking at night is high risk. These beasts have taken patrol of our streets from the police. They do not mind to kill innocent people for a few pulas. They also rape, steal, raid, terrorise the communities. Indeed, we are living under the siege of these bastards who were poorly raised.

These rogues have managed to strike fear in all of us. But we should not give up hope. We should help each other raise morally upright citizens. Children should grow up knowing that crime does not pay.

Today’s thought

“Most people do not really want freedom, because freedom involves responsibility, and most people are frightened of responsibility.”
