The physical contest saw top scorer, Joel Mogorosi stretched out as early as the 11th minute and Rollers coach Nikola Kavazovic blasted his opponents for having a small team mentality.

“This was no football, the champions (sic). The other who I don’t even know and don’t care about their name, they played kickboxing, ultimate fight and all other fighting sports on the football field. I want to congratulate my players who were ready to suffer more punches for trying to fight for the team.

I hope they are the only team in the league (that play like that) I saw TAFIC, Police XI, BDF XI and (Black) Forest and those are gentlemen’s teams,” a livid Kavazovic told journalists after the game.

On the pitch, Rollers showed their intentions as early as the first minute with Joel Mogorosi hitting the lower upright before Mosha Gaolaolwe headed over the bar from a corner a minute later. Mogorosi was stretched off due to a leg injury inflicted by Gift Maworere and was replaced by youngster, Boyo Lechaena. Rollers dominated much of the proceedings while Sharps’ first threatening moment came in the 32nd minute, when Letlhogonolo Chenjela’s acrobatic kick flew over the bar. In the 38th minute, Gaolaolwe pulled a brilliant save from Raphael Nthwane with a header from a free kick in what proved to be the last chance at the goal in the half. Teams went into the break, goalless.

Both teams looked to put the coaches’ instructions into action after the break. It took Popa only three minutes to open the scores through Edwin Moalosi. The winger scored with a half volley from Mthokosizi Msomi’s cross.

Nthwane denied Moalosi in the 54th minute from a free kick. On the hour mark, bully striker, Msomi saw his initial effort blocked by the defender. He out-muscled the defender and beat the keeper to the bottom corner, doubling his team’s lead with his first in Rollers’ colours. Nthwane parried Motsholetsi Sikele’s long-range effort for a corner in the 78th minute. Rollers continued to dominate their opponents and bagged the well-deserved three points on the afternoon.
