Majaivane collaborates with Namibian artist

The single, dubbed Dream Girl, was officially released last week and it is Majaivane’s third single from his debut album that is yet to be released.

“Collaborating with John Jay R was part of my marketing strategy to spread and grow my brand not only in the country but regionally. I saw it fit that we fused my style of music and his style to come up with a song,” said the 34-year-old Majaivane.

The song has Majaivane’s signature kwaito sound with a fusion of John Jay R’s Afro pop sound making it a high tempo. The collaboration was possible through Majaivane’s record label Amp Prez, which has connections is Namibia.

He said they are currently working on the logistics of shooting a video for the song. “John Jay R is supposed to come this side so we shoot the music video and then we can tour around the country and Namibia.”He insisted that this would not be the only international collaboration on his album. He is planning more collaborations until he drops his album next year.

Majaivane has staged some performances in places such as Gaborone, Ramotswa and Modipane.

“I have been working on fresh ideas that’s why it has taken me long to release the single and an album. Through out the years I have learnt that music is a business that should be taken seriously,” said Majaivane, who started his music career in 2010 after parting ways with Vee Mampeezy a few years back.

His departure from Vee Mampeezy’s crew was influenced by the fact that he had a mission to grow his own brand as a performer.

“I would like to work with Vee on a track if he insist that we should. But above everything our relationship is still cool.”
