Ntsuape cases committed to the High Court

State prosecutor, Chimbisani Sechele told Magistrate Kaveri Kapeko that committal documents in the matter were ready for his (Ntsuape) cases to be committed to the High Court for trial.

In response, Ntsuape said he had nothing to say concerning the committal of his cases to the High Court. At the end of Ntsuape’s brief appearance in court, Kapeko committed the case to the High Court for trial in accordance with Section 96 of the Criminal Procedures and Evidence Act. Ntsuape, 30, of Ramotswa is facing one count of murder, four counts of threat to kill and two counts of arson.

He allegedly committed the offences because he could not fathom the fact that his former girlfriend, Dorcas Kgosietsile, had decided to end their love relationship.

Ntsuape is also charged with two counts of manslaughter and one count of disabling in order to commit an offence.

The incident claimed the lives of a special constable Thuso ‘Jah’ Ntusa and a prison inmate, Emmanuel Mapholo on December 1, 2016.

He allegedly wrestled for the steering wheel of a Quantum minibus with the driver when he was taken to a prison facility at the Francistown Centre for Illegal Immigrants (FCII) after he appeared in court. The Quantum overturned several times, killing a special constable and an on remand prisoner from Zimbabwe who was charged with rape.

Other inmates, prisoners and police officers who were in the car at the time of the incident sustained varying injuries and were referred to Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital for medical treatment.

Ntsuape survived the accident with minor injuries to his head.

He has on numerous appearances in court applied for bail, but his applications were turned down.

On one occasion, Ntsuape’s bail application was dismissed based on a report by a psychiatric expert, which said that he has serious anger management problems and was a danger to himself and the family members of his former girlfriend.
