Flying women encourage aviation enthusiasts

The event is set to start at 9am and end at 3pm. At least 50 girls from Maun and surrounding areas, ages  8-18 are expected to attend the event.

The event will fall under the theme , “empowering and mentoring women and girls in the different aviation sectors.” This is line with Botswana’s new vision 2036 pillar by contributing towards promotion and mentorship of the girl-child in the science, technology and innovation.

WAIB is a non-profit entity founded by a group of highly passionate young female aviators across the country.  The group came together to establish a platform to encourage, motivate and advance women and girls in different sectors of the aviation industry.

WAIB is a local chapter to Women in Aviation International (WAI) based in the United States of America (USA). Formerly established in 1994, WAI is a non-profit organization dedicated to the encouragement and advancement of women in all aviation career fields and interests. Its dincludes astronauts, corporate pilots, maintenance technicians, air traffic controllers, business owners, educators, journalists, flight attendants, high school and university students, air show performers, airport managers and many others.

On September 23, 2017, Women in Aviation International chapters around the world will bring all of the passion, exploration, learning, and excitement of aviation and aerospace right to you.
