Mabaila, the founder of Mabaila Foundation, was recently appointed the patron of the Support Group, an organisation that supports and looks after disadvantaged and vulnerable children.

The adoption is the latest in a string of public philosophical events Mabaila has performed under his Foundation. The events are usually graced by ministers.

The Parliamentary hopeful recently fenced cemeteries in Mogoditshane and donated spectacles to 15 elderly people of Khudiring ward at a cost of P51,200.

Batang Support Group offers support to vulnerable children majority of whom are orphans.

At the adoption ceremony, Mabaila said his effort to assist these children is part of showing support to the less privileged and show them love.

“My plan is to offer them emotionally, social and financial support. My intentions are to buy them food, toiletry, clothes and provide them with other necessities to change their lives for the better. I strongly believe that taking care of needy people forms an integral part of my mandate of helping the less privileged,” Mabaila said.

He stated that Batang Support Group is playing a crucial role in the care of the less privileged in Mogoditshane, hence he is willing to join hands to develop the community. He said the children he is supporting are all less than five-years-old and need his support the most so that they can be like their age mates.

Mabaila said that most of disadvantaged children perform badly at school not because they are not gifted academically but are affected by their upbringing.

He said that not putting on full school uniform like other children is likely to affect their performances at school, hence he found it fit to step in and bring back the smile to their faces.

“My wish is to see these kids progress in life and have a bright future, be citizens who could in future contribute to the development of the country’s economy,” Mabaila said.

He said that he is also planning to construct some of them houses starting next year, as a way of putting a roof over their heads.

Reached for a comment, the project coordinator for Batang Support Group, Kabelo Setlhake applauded Mabaila for his good gesture in helping the organisation ever since he was appointed as the patron.

Setlhake said Mabaila pledged to adopt some of their children and they are yet to discuss the matter.

He said that since they appointed him as their patron in August, Mabaila has been supporting them financially.

“Mabaila is a hardworking and determined man and we are expecting a lot from him. He recently donated a cow to us, which we slaughtered and used as relish and he has also pledged to purchase fridges for the organisation. He has also partnered with some individuals who donated us food hampers,” Setlhake said.
