Paul has chosen not to comment on the incident, but briefly spoke to Mmegi Sport yesterday. He said he was not interested in small talk and all he was focused on was preparing his team as well as attaining his PhD.
“It’s unfortunate Mogorosi got injured, but I am not interested in petty talk. There is no coach who will go out to deliberately injure opponents. Ga ke bate ditshele,” Paul said.
Rollers ran out 2-0 winners in a fierce encounter where tackles flew and Mogorosi was stretched off as early as the 11th minute following a foul from Sharps’ Gift Maworere.
The referee dished six yellow cards, five which went to Sharps while Mogorosi, to rub salt into the wound, was red-carded for dissent towards the match official.
The match was billed an emotional affair, largely due to the animosity between the two clubs’ financiers, Sommerset Gobuiwang and Jagdish Shah, allies-turned-foes after a bitter ownership wrangle while both were at Rollers.
The animosity spilt on to the pitch on Sunday and the Rollers coach, Nikola Kavazovic added further fuel to the fire when he called Sharps a side ‘with a small team mentality’.
He said he wished the side could relegate, and did not even know what its name was.
Mogorosi, on the other hand, took to his Facebook page to blast Sharp coach, Maworere and the referee.
He said he would not regret killing his opponent, and face capital punishment.
Rollers later claimed Mogorosi’s account had been hacked.
Mogorosi faces between two to three months on the sidelines, a blow to a player who had started the season in blazing form, plundering four goals in as many matches.
The Botswana Premier League is expected to step in and take action, if it deems Mogorosi and Kavazovic were in breach of the game’s code of conduct.
