In this vein, Deloitte is excited to have been awarded the 2017 Authorised Training Employer by the Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA).

Said Deloitte Partner Pragna Naik, “We are greatly humbled to have received this award and we are excited at the accreditation of our colleagues under this prestigious programme.

We recognise the importance of this and acknowledge our responsibilities of providing a platform for educating, training and producing more chartered accountants in Botswana in support of the national skills development goals. The gap in skills and resourcing in the economy needs to be bridged adequately in order to support growth and we have collaborated with BICA over the years towards improving this.”

In addition to this prestigious accolade, three more Deloitte colleagues have been awarded the Chartered Accountant qualificiation by the Institute.

The three stellar Deloitte professionals are Mosireletsi Mogotlhwane, Temo Bolokwe and Tshepiso Mmolai. The three graduates add to the two Deloitte-trained individuals who qualified in 2016.

The BICA programme is affiliated to the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW). The prestigious qualification upskills professionals with a competitive range of financial management skills covering areas such as auditing and assurance, accounting and financial management and taxation. Deloitte currently has 10 more  professionals training towards qualifying under the BICA programme.

Deloitte is registered with BICA as a Qualified Person Responsible for Training (QPRT) and has also had a long standing relationship with the Botswana Accountancy College (BAC). Deloitte has been an active supporter of the BICA programme since its inception in 2011 and Deloitte partners also take an active role in the Institute through participation in various committees.

Currently, two of the Deloitte Botswana partners, Cecilia Ramatlapeng and Evgeniya Kyuchukova-Troanska, are BICA committee members and actively participate in the Institute’s activities.

Concluded Deloitte Partner Max Marinelli, “As a firm, we take our responsibility to train citizen accountants very seriously because it is essential that our people are equipped to be at the helm of key developments in the Botswana business sector.

Over the last 43 years, Deloitte professionals have gone on to become captains of industries in public and private entities and we are proud of our heritage of cultivating home-grown excellence.

We place significant emphasis on the professional and on-the-job training of our colleagues and we take pride in being a leading trainer employer in this regard. We look forward to continuing our relationship with BICA and BAC to see more professionals in Botswana lead the charge in the industry.”
