Last chance for COSBOTS members tomorrow

The long anticipated AGM has been postponed two times already and last Saturday the available members could not form a quorum. The elections of board members handled by an independent organisation, Botswana Council of Non-Governmental Organizations (BOCONGO) needed at least 710 members to form a quorum and no business can be transacted at the general meeting unless a quorum was formed.
Now the COSBOTS constitution allows the AGM to continue tomorrow no matter what. “If at the adjourned meeting a quorum is not present within half an hour from the time appointed for the meeting (which starts tomorrow at 8AM), the representatives of the Founder Member present shall be a quorum,” the COSBOTS constitution states. According to the COSBOTS constitution the meeting should not be dissolved even if a quorum is not present.
Therefore it will be the last chance for COSBOTS’s 1,300 members to come and make their choice concerning the future direction of the troubled organisation. Many COSBOTS members like Alfredo Mos have been calling for this AGM when the previous board’s time elapsed and now it is time for the wheel to be turned the other way.
There are many individuals and teams that are scheduled to contest and among them is Team Real Change, which composes of artists such Tomeletso Sereetsi of Sereetsi & The Natives, Game ‘Zeus’ Bantsi, Sydney ‘DJ Boogie Sid’ Nzala, Winani Sekani, Jimmy Moyambo and Batho Motlhake. Besides Team Real Change, former COSBOTS chairperson Solo B Monyame wants to get back on the driving seat after stepping down a few months ago when his term elapsed.
Monyame’s team also includes Lecco of Arthur Mafokate’s 999. Veteran kwasa Kwasa musician Alfredo Mosimanegape’s team is called Bagaka and comprises of Thabang Gabarogwe and veterans such as Mpho Nakedi and Phempheretlhe.
The electoral process will be decided by a show of hands and every member who is eligible to vote is supposed to either cast their vote in person or by proxy.
