First Setswana Animation series to be launched next week

The Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development (MYSC) sponsors the project.  In an interview with Showbiz, Makepe Televison series producer Oageng Lemogang said they will finally launch the series after tough years of planning and production.

“Makepe Tales is the first of its kind. It is a 13 episode 2D animation that is set in an imaginary remote area near Serowe called Matimpole.

It is a set of Setswana tales (mainane), customised to teach children morality in this modern life,” Lemogang explained. He added that they are a group of young people who are passionate and well learned in animation and performing arts.

“Makepe Tales is made possible with the help and input of different people who want our Botswana to be much better in place of media, arts and education.”

Lemogang said Batswana wholly make Makepe Tales and is 100% youth owned.  He said the launch is expected to last for two hours and will attract attendees such as government officials, media and arts stakeholders from as far as South Africa, Kenya and Pennsylvania
