Police V took part in neighbouring countries, including Zimbabwe, South Africa and Swaziland. They have also received invitations to participate in international tournaments.  “We are preparing for the club championships by playing international matches. It’s not that we undermine local teams. With international teams, we are able to identify new loopholes and we can correct them. We are learning new things every time we play these teams,” Police V public relations officer, Neo Aabobe said.

The team has Lakers from Zimbabwe, South Africa’s Vaal University of Technology (VUT) and Limpopo to mention but a few.

There has been improvement after winning the Johannesburg Basketball Association tournament, which included teams from South Africa and Zimbabwe.  Police V beat Lakers 40-35 in the final.

Aabobe said they take their participation in the club championships seriously as they are looking forward to winning the tournament since it will be hosted in the country.

The tournament draws together 18 women’s teams from six African countries.  Police V are due to travel to Zimbabwe at the invitation of Lakers, but Aabobe said they face a financial challenge.  The team will also play local friendly matches that are yet to be announced.  James Kalebwe, who has been the coach for years, will lead the Cops.
