BNF gears up for primaries

Although no certain dates have been set, a letter from the party secretary general, Moeti Mohwasa to the constituencies and regions states that primaries will be held in the last quarter of 2017 and first quarter of 2018.

“You are advised that ward, constituency and regional committees should be put in place immediately. They should elect sub-committees (which include) elections committee, elections appeals committee, disciplinary committee.

“The wards, in terms of the constitution are responsible for acceptance or refusal of application for membership submitted to it and therefore all membership applications should pass through the ward,” Mohwasa’s letter reads in part.

Mohwasa stated that the party office would only accept application forms brought by the constituency secretaries.  “Based on this position, no application forms will be accepted from constituencies that do not have elected structures.” He reminds the members that, “Campaigns should start only after a writ of primary elections has been issued and therefore no campaign should take place until a writ of elections has been issued.”
