Otukile (49kg) qualified for the competition after winning a silver medal at the African Championships in Congo Brazaville in June.

Modiradilo, who is also Otukile’s coach, told Mmegi Sport from Germany this week that they expect a good fight, particularly looking at the training the boxer has received.  He said in fact, they never stopped training after the Africa Championships.

“Otukile is good, there is no sign of fatigue or injury.  He has been working hard through intensive training with other boxers in camp.  The boxer is looking forward to producing good results as shown by his performance during sparring sessions with other boxers from different countries,” Modiradilo said.

He said the support they have been receiving from BOBA, the host and other nations has been great and a motivation to the boxer to focus and work on his weakness.  “Otukile has been performing well in local tournaments and he has been to major competitions at youth level.  However, this is his biggest competition.”

The pair up will be decided after the weigh in.  He said Otukile is gaining much experience since he is showing signs of improvement in daily training.

“With the assistance we have been getting here, Otukile has been doing well on his attacking, defending and punching skills.  I have picked that he improves daily.  Medical attention is offered to the boxer after their sparring matches to make sure that they are injury free ahead of the competitions,” Modiradilo said. The competition has attracted boxers from Germany, Netherlands, United States, Mongolia and Guatamala amongst other countries. The tournament starts on Friday and ends on September 3.
