Ketshotseng, who told Showbiz during an interview that he worked hard to come up with the more than 20 pieces, said he felt it was high time he held a solo exhibition where people could better appreciate his works as an individual artist. Elsewhere in Showbiz, this writer mentioned that Ketshotseng's seed mosaics surpassed his paintings and drawings, but unfortunately they are not among the works currently displayed.
Perhaps, the most outstanding painting at the exhibition is Diamonds Of Botswana whose focal point are multi-coloured diamonds shown 'dripping' from a gourd surrounded by traditional kitchen utensils, including pots and baskets. This is a piece that the artist once entered in a national exhibition and it got a mention in some of the local papers. Ngwao Boswa is another piece that depicts diamonds, traditional pots and gourds and this clearly shows that the young artist loves incorporating these items into his representational works.
Some of the paintings to look out for at the exhibition include Jewel Of The Desert, which depicts some Basarwa women gatherers, beads and eggshells.
The chrome on acrylic piece, The Lion is another interesting work. Tshetlha is yet another painting that showcases the feared 'king of the beasts'. Other works displayed at the museum include Space To Breath, The Field, The Fight, Polokelo, Giraffe and Letlhafula.
As mentioned, before Ketshotseng, who also happens to be a Thapong artist, has proven to be stronger when it comes to making seed mosaics. When he does mosaics he only uses natural materials and he told Showbiz during an earlier interview, 'I know a lot of young people out there claim that they are not able to complete their works because they do not have enough funds. These artists should be creative and look around for natural things that they can use for their pieces.'
When Showbiz asked him why there were no seed mosaics at the current exhibition, he explained that he is barely able to have a collection of them because they are 'snapped up by buyers' as soon as he finishes working on them. One could safely suggest that Ketshotseng should focus more on mosaics because he is stronger with them and they clearly set him apart from his peers.
Although Ketshotseng is still a student, he considers himself an artist foremost and asserts that he is going to die one. He told Showbiz he wants to find a job within the visual arts and that he aspires to be one of the greatest artists in Botswana.
