Strong military, zero corruption remains core for Xis New Era

Xi has been a strong advocate of anti corruption since he took power and his intention on the advocacy of a strong military comes in the wake of elements that seems to be threatening world peace, the biggest being the emergence of acts of terrorism across the globe.

The President in his submission of statements at the just ended 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) made it clear that there was a need on strengthening national defence and the armed forces through reform and technology.

This was agreed upon by the national congress to include into the new revised party constitution with the understanding that the inclusion of the statements will help ensure the party’s absolute leadership over the people’s armed forces, modernise national defence and the military, while at the same time promoting ethnic unity and developing an open economy of higher standards.

“The Congress agrees to include into the party constitution the Xi’s statements of which one of them is that the CPC shall uphold its absolute leadership over the People’s Liberation Army and other people’s armed forces,” said the congress.

The Congress agreed that they would implement Xi’s thinking on strengthening the military and the development of People’s Liberation army by enhancing its political loyalty, strengthening it through reform and technology and running it in accordance with the law.

In addition, the congress assured the masses that they would build people’s forces that obey the party’s command, that can fight and win while maintaining excellent conduct and ensuring that the liberation army accomplishes its missions and tasks in the new era.

“This will ensure and foster a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation, uphold justice while pursuing shared interests. It will also build a community with shared future for mankind, follow the principle of achieving shared growth through discussion and collaboration,” said the congress.

On corruption, Xi said the mission remains high with investigations carried out and punishing those that have been found on the wrong side of the law.

He maintained that the party’s work under the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection has intensified efforts to improve the party’s conduct, build integrity and fight corruption by preserving and implementing the central party leadership’s eight points decision on improving party and government conduct while at the same time tightening political discipline and rules. “In doing so, they have helped to effectively stem corruption and improve the political ecosystem of the party and enable the country’s anti corruption campaign to gather momentum building towards a sweeping victory,” he said.

The President noted that the commission have made progress under the party leadership and has resulted in the fulfillment of political responsibility for governance over the party at each level of the party organisation while making sure that disciplinary inspections cut like a blade through corruption and misconduct.

Lastly Xi said the new central committee was a realisation of an organisational succession and believed that the decisions and plans made by the congress will play a vital role in guiding and ensuring success in major endeavours such as securing a decisive victory in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects.
